3D Prop Modeling & Texturing

Luxury Necessaire — Hero Prop (Modeling & Material Study)

This piece is a hero prop study focused on clean silhouette, controlled ornamentation, and high-end material readability under real-time lighting. The asset was modeled in Blender with subdivision-friendly topology to ensure smooth curvature and consistent highlight flow across the cylindrical body, which was critical for maintaining a premium surface read.

Decorative elements (emblem, trims, hinges) were modeled as separate meshes to preserve sharp edges and allow flexible material authoring. UVs were optimized for even texel density on the main body to support believable leather grain and pattern tiling without distortion on curved surfaces.

Materials were authored in Substance 3D Painter using a layered approach, refining smart materials rather than relying on them directly. The focus was on controlling roughness response, micro surface variation, and subtle height modulation to avoid noisy specular breakup while keeping the surface from reading as perfectly procedural. Metal components were calibrated with physically accurate metallic values to maintain clear material separation and clean highlight behavior.

A second patterned variant was created on the same asset to demonstrate material flexibility and robustness of the UV and shader setup, showing how the prop can support different art directions while retaining form readability.
